The town of Dugo Selo, located just outside of the Croatian capital Zagreb, is celebrating the “Stara jela iz Dugog Sela” (Traditional Dishes from Dugo Selo) festival this weekend.

Dishes included bread and lard, pasta with cabbage, liver stew with polenta, borscht, paprika stew, chicken with mlinci, carp on wooden skewers, veal under a bell, roast suckling pig with bean salad, pies and burek, cakes, plum dumplings, and many other specialities.

Instead of single-use plastic, food is served on tin plates reminiscent of the local heritage of the former Gorica enamelware factory. These plates also serve as souvenirs for visitors to take home.
