The Zadar City Day celebration ended last night with a concert by the popular group Dalmatino on Petar Zoranić Square, which also officially opened Advent in Zadar 2022.
Even though it was a weekday, thousands of visitors flocked to the Advent stage, the surrounding squares and streets, and numerous caterers in small houses managed with great effort to keep visitors happy all night.
Dalmatino played a succession of well-known hits which were warmly welcomed by the people of Zadar, including “Diteline s četri lista“, “Dvi sestre blizanke“, “Rišpeta“and “Božić bijeli“.
“Our concerts in Zadar have always been excellent, whether it was club gigs or New Year’s Eve 2020, but this was really something special. This is Dalmatia after all, our mentality, wherever there is sea, we easily connect with the audience,” commented Zdravko Sunara.
The mayor of Zadar, Branko Dukić, as well as the mayor of Split, Ivica Puljak, and other leaders of Croatian cities, who are currently participating in the 14th meeting of mayors and entrepreneurs in Petrčane, expressed their delight at what they saw. Many congratulations went to their “Advent host”, the director of the Zadar Tourist Board, Mario Paleka.
“This earlier date for the beginning of Advent, on the Day of the City of Zadar, proved to be a complete hit, which is evident from the response of the citizens. Our specialty is this compactness, that everything happens in one intimate space of these two squares, and I believe that we will continue in this rhythm for the weekend and all the following Advent days,” says Paleka.
Tonight popular singer Jole will take to the stage. Known as a great entertainer, Jole likes to perform at Advent concerts.
“Thank God, in twenty years of work we have created an extremely wide repertoire, so we can prepare well for every occasion like this or react when we see what the audience wants to listen to. There will be a party, a celebration, but on a cultural level.”
Given that he will be performing right next to the Advent houses, he was asked if he would like to taste something from the offer and what he would prefer – burgers or blood sausage.
“Of course I’ll try, I’m a flesh and blood human too, I can’t stay away. I’m more of a meat guy than a fish guy. As soon as the wind starts, so do the sausages and dumplings, but I also like burgers, especially after the gastronomy has progressed so much in recent years that they are real specialties. I see that there are a lot of houses and that the offer is varied, I will try what attracts me tonight,” says Jole.
The concert starts at 9 p.m., but the gastronomic offer in the little houses will be available from 10 a.m. until midnight every day, and until 1:30 a.m. on Saturdays.
Advent in Zadar takes place until 7 January 2023. Find out more about what will be going on here.
