22 July 2019 – Dresses from popular Croatian designer Matija Vuica are now available in Australia as Artelier&Billich opened its doors recently in Sydney.
Located in the centre of Sydney at Sheraton Sydney, 161 Elizabeth Street, Artelier&Billich presents dresses from Vuica together with paintings from renowned Croatian-Australian artist Charles Billich.
The idea for the unique artelier came from Alenka Bonic, owner and Director of Artelier&Billich.
“Her idea was to open an gallery where along with paintings from Charles Billich being exhibited, my dresses would also be presented. The idea sounded exclusive and wow to me and the idea was whole-heartedly accepted by Bilich and his wife Christa,” Vuica, whose designers were worn on the Red Carpet at this year’s Oscars, said.
Originally from Metković, Vuica resides in Zagreb and originally started out pursuing a singing career. In the 90s her love for fashion transformed into a professional career. Her dresses have been worn over the years by most public figures in Croatia and in particular, she is sought for her unique craftsmanship of tailored wedding dresses made exclusively from silk chiffon, taffeta, satin and lace.
Guests on the opening night in Sydney included Croatian Consul General Ivica Glasnovic, Director of Croatian Tourist Board Kristjan Stanicic, Director of the Zagreb Tourist Office Martina BIenenfeld, Kristina Manic, PR for The Croatian Tourist Office, Nedjeljom Titic, Director of Australian Croatian art foundation Croatia House and Alenka Bonic owner and Director of Artelier&Billich.
“Artelier & Billich would like to welcome you to join us on our new journey with world renowned Artist Charles Billich and Matija Vuica, Couture designer, as they weave magical masterpieces together.”
