SPLIT, 21 March 2025 – The first day of spring brought great news for nature lovers in Split, as the fully renovated Botanical Garden on Marjan was officially reopened.

The restoration is part of the “Marjan 2020 – Hill of the Past, Oasis of the Future” project, aimed at transforming the once-neglected garden into a modern educational and recreational space.

The revitalisation efforts included repairing greenhouses and buildings, upgrading pathways, renovating a traditional field house, and adding new features like gazebos and botanical stairways.

Split Mayor Ivica Puljak expressed his enthusiasm at the opening: “We are proud to present the restored Botanical Garden, a valuable addition for both locals and visitors. Marjan is a treasure, and we are committed to preserving and enhancing it for all generations.”

A key contributor to the project was the Faculty of Science in Split, which played a crucial role in the garden’s development. It will continue to support its future growth, ensuring it remains an important educational hub for botanists, biologists, and nature enthusiasts.
