A number of Croatian sporting legends took part this week in Game Set Croatia, a charity tennis event organised by the Marin Čilić Foundation.
Held in the coastal city of Zadar, this was the third edition of the event and this year it raised funds for the construction of a multifunctional sports playground for children of Petar Zoranić Elementary School in Stankovci, Zadar County.
Marin Čilić was joined by fellow Croatian sporting legends, including tennis players Mate Pavić, Nikola Mektić, Borna Gojo, and Donna Vekić, football stars Luka Modrić, Eduardo da Silva; Šime Vrsaljko and, Danijel Subašić; the Sinković Brothers; basketball players Ivica Zubac, Dario Šarić, Andrija Stipanović, Ante Žižić, and Zoran Planinić; Olympic taekwondo gold medalist Matea Jelić; skier Filip Zubčić; table tennis player Andrej Gaćina; handball greats Manuel Štrlek, Ivano Balić, and Luka Cindrić; Croatian karate ace Anđelo Kvesić; Croatian national team goalkeeper & player of Italian Serie A club Juventus, Doris Bačić; and Croatian volleyball player Igor Omrčen.
This unique project seeks to provide children with safe spaces to play, foster healthy habits, and educate them about the importance of physical activity from early childhood. Sport influences not only the physical and health aspects of development but also spreads messages of peace, friendship, and equality among people, which is the key message of the project.
Apart from the legends there were numerous events for the kids over the two days, including educational workshops and a game with Marin Čilić in front of St. Donat Church in Zadar.
