The first Pizza Festival in the Croatian city of Dubrovnik opened yesterday. It lasts until Sunday, October 15th, and brings a touch of Italy to the former TUP factory located in Gruž.

Alongside a variety of different pizzas, visitors will be able to taste various sandwiches and refreshing cocktails. From classic Neapolitan to crispy ‘pan’ pizzas, there is something for everyone.

The first day of the festival already attracted locals and tourists from all around the world. The next three days in Gruž, specifically at TUP, will be filled with flavours, scents, and sounds.

Particularly excited for their first appearance at the first Dubrovnik Pizza Festival are the local talents from Župa dubrovačka, the team from Piste & Pazze, who suggest that you must try their panuozzo sandwiches, a kind of mix between a sandwich and pizza with roots dating back to the 1980s in Gragnano, south of Naples.

Stimulating the taste buds, the well-known team from Zadar’s Poma Food Boutique is also present. Aside from constantly working on innovations, Pom’s delicacies are special because they make all sauces and additions themselves. They recommend visitors to try the “Talijanka” with basil pesto or the “Istrijanka” with prosciutto and fig balsamic.

Crispy pizza lovers with a fuller crust have finally found their match as the Pizza Institute prepares authentic Italian pizza, paying the most attention to the dough and its fermentation. Notably, it ferments for 72 hours, crucial for baking at high temperatures to achieve the desired flavor and texture.
