The first international beach polo tournament in Croatia has started in Rovinj on the western coast of the Istrian peninsula on Friday…
The 4-team international event, which ends on Sunday, features players from all over the world, as well as 50 Argentine horses. Traditionally the sport of polo is played on grass, but an adopted format has seen sand replace the grass for the tournament.
All of the games will be played on a 70×40 metre playing ‘field’ at Porton Biondi beach in Rovinj, which has a great view of the old town.
Team Adris, Team Heineken, Team Tagheuer and Team Jamnica will be battling it out over the next few days for the title.
