On Saturday February 18th 2023, Croatian Folklore Ensemble “Hrvatska Zora” in Winnipeg, celebrated 50 years of history.
The gala was well attended by the local Croatian community as well as former dancers, tamburaši, instructors and volunteers. Past members flew in from all across Canada to take in an evening full of memories.
The community had the honour of hosting two government dignitaries from the Republic of Croatia over the weekend; Mr. Vice Skračić – The Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia in Canada and Mr. Ante Jović – Consul General of the Republic of Croatia to Mississauga.
The celebration continued Sunday morning where members of Hrvatska Zora participated in Holy Mass by wearing their nošnje, accompanied by The Ambassador and Consul General. After mass, they enjoyed a reception with a performance by Hrvatska Zora’s junior group.
On behalf of Hrvatska Zora, they would like to extend the most heartfelt thankyou to everyone in their community and around the world who supported them and helped make the weekend celebration a great success! They look forward to continuing to preserve Croatian culture and folklore on the Canadian prairies.
Established in February of 1972 under the auspices of the Croatian Roman Catholic Church – St. Nicholas Tavelich, Hrvatska Zora has prided itself in preserving and promoting Croatian identity, culture and heritage nationally and internationally.
