ZAGREB, 31 Dec (Hina/CW) – Croatian cities and towns on Tuesday organised traditional midday celebrations on New Year’s Eve.

The town of Fužine, in the Rijeka hinterland, is most famous for its festive midday countdown on New Year’s Eve.

Other towns throughout Croatia also prepared open-air festivities at noon, which makes children particularly happy.

In the eastern city of Slavonski Brod, members of the local aquatic club performed a traditional dive into the Sava River, braving cold weather and thick fog.

In Zagreb, the on Cvjetni trg  with a concert by popular singer Mia Dimšić, whose hits delighted both children and parents.

Zagreb’s Mayor, Tomislav Tomašević, led a symbolic countdown to noon, sharing wishes for peace, health, love, and joy in the coming year.

The fog that settled over Zadar this morning didn’t dampen the fun and joy of the city’s youngest residents and their parents. Exactly at noon, with the release of hundreds of balloons into the air, Zadar’s youth welcomed the New Year 2025.

In Osijek, children, parents, and grandparents, gathered at Holy Trinity Square in Tvrđa at noon with Mayor Ivan Radić to celebrate the New Year. Entertainment included a magic show by Magic Leon and performances by local talents Karla Skender and the band Uholaže.

Mayor Radić extended his New Year’s wishes, emphasising the joy of family gatherings and inviting residents to the evening celebration at Vatroslav Lisinski Square, featuring music by Džentlmeni and Prljavo kazalište. Two additional New Year’s parties were organised for 600 retirees, offering food, drinks, and live music.

The city provided free and enhanced public transport nd continued its tradition of welcoming the New Year without fireworks, focusing instead on good company and music.
