The first Bugatti fully developed under the leadership of Croatian Mate Rimac, as the CEO of Bugatti Rimac, was unveiled to the world in France this week.
Mate Rimac emphasizes the brand’s commitment to its legacy and the guiding principles of its founder, Ettore Bugatti.
Inspired by the timeless elegance and performance of past icons like the Type 57SC Atlantic and the Type 35, the Tourbillon aims to be more elegant, emotive, and luxurious than any of its predecessors.
The entire development process took place in Croatia, including the production of prototypes. Bugatti Rimac is based in Sveta Nedelja, where over 300 engineers worked on the development of this car.
The assembly of customer vehicles will continue to take place at Bugatti’s historic site in Molsheim, while many components will be manufactured in Croatia.
The name “Tourbillon” is a nod to the intricate watchmaking invention, reflecting Bugatti’s French heritage and the car’s complex, timeless beauty.
The Tourbillon embodies the principle of being “shaped by speed,” with every surface meticulously designed for aerodynamic and thermodynamic efficiency.
The car integrates classic Bugatti design elements such as the horseshoe grille and the dual color split, while evolving these features to create a modern masterpiece. The new diffuser concept and advanced rear wing ensure aerodynamic equilibrium at speeds exceeding 400 km/h.
The interior of the Tourbillon is crafted to stand the test of time, inspired by horology. It features a completely analogue instrument cluster created by Swiss watchmakers, blending traditional craftsmanship with modern engineering. The center console combines crystal glass and aluminum, housing the intricate workings of switches and a unique engine start lever.
At the heart of the Tourbillon is an all-new 8.3-liter naturally aspirated V16 engine, developed with Cosworth, paired with a front e-Axle and a rear electric motor. This hybrid powertrain delivers a staggering 1,800 hp, with 1,000 hp from the combustion engine and 800 hp from the electric motors.
The 25 kWh oil-cooled 800V battery provides a usable all-electric range of over 60 km. Despite its advanced technology and powerful performance, the Tourbillon is lighter than its predecessor, the Chiron.
The Tourbillon is built around a next-generation carbon composite chassis, integrating weight-saving innovations and advanced materials. The new chassis includes multi-link suspension and 3D-printed structural components, reducing weight and enhancing vehicle dynamics.
The brakes feature cutting-edge carboceramic technology, and the bespoke Michelin tires are designed specifically for the Tourbillon.
Coming in 2026
With prototypes already on the road, the Bugatti Tourbillon is set for customer deliveries in 2026. Limited to just 250 units, each with a starting price of 3.8 million EUR, the Tourbillon will be hand-assembled at the Bugatti Atelier in Molsheim.
