A public tender has been announced for the reconstruction and expansion of St. Peter’s Pier in Split Harbour. The project involves extending the pier on its northern side and lengthening it westwards by approximately 53 metres.

This will include the expansion of the existing shoreline, providing two new ramps and additional operational space, complete with necessary installations, surface treatments, and equipment for the new waterfront area.

The development will also feature new passenger facilities, including a canopy, two staff booths, and a transformer station.

Reconstruction and expansion of the pier’s coastal structure are required on both the northern and southern sides of the existing embankment.

As Slobodna Dalmacija reports, Split Port Authority director Vice Mihanović stated that the total project value is €30 million (including VAT), with funding coming partly from European funds and the remainder from the national budget.

“Thanks to the government, this project will cost the city, the county, and the port authority virtually nothing. The start of construction depends on the public tender, and I would be pleased if work commences at the end of this year or the beginning of the next,” Mihanović commented.

“We will gain over 5,000 square metres of operational space and two new ferry berths. According to conservation guidelines, the project also includes the construction of public toilets, a ticket office, and hospitality facilities to improve passenger amenities.”

Mihanović added that the work would not be halted during the tourist season. “We won’t interrupt the work, as maintaining continuity means we’ll only lose two seasons. Any delay in construction incurs additional time and cost. It’s better to push through and complete the project as quickly as possible,” he concluded.
