The Croatian city of Rijeka is home to one of the biggest carnivals in Europe, the Rijeka Carnival, which has traditionally taken place in winter since 1982.
With the pandemic stopping the carnival taking place this winter, a special summer edition of the Rijeka Carnival took place this weekend to make up for it.
The summer Rijeka Carnival gathered 57 carnival groups with almost 5,000 participants in the International Carnival Parade on Saturday as thousands of locals and tourists flooded the city to watch.
