22 September 2019 – After 10 days celebrating all things Slavonian with more than 8,000 performers taking part, the 54th Vinkovci Autumn Festival (Vinkovačke Jeseni) closes tonight in the eastern Croatian town of Vinkovci.
The final day will see 75 cultural and folklore groups from Croatia and the diaspora perform.
The annual Vinkovci Autumn festival, which is over 50 years old now, marks the start of autumn, a season that Slavonians reap a lot of rewards for their hard work during the year.
Vinkovci Autumn festival is a celebration of the Slavonian lifestyle, habits and culture and aims to give festival goers an insight into all things Slavonian – including food, dance, music, costume and dialects.
This year again around 100,000 visitors attend over the past 10 days. The theme of this year’s festival was ‘Three dear words to us’ referring to Slavonia, Srijem and Baranja.
There were also various cultural performances, including kids groups, fashion shows, concerts, recitals, and a chance to sample some traditional Slavonian cuisine and lots more.
