PULA, 11 June 2019 – A new artistic tourist attraction has opened in Pula when Verudela Art Park official opened on Friday.
The new park is located on 5,500 m2 of land in Verudela, situated between the parking lot and Ambrela beach and features a number of sculptures and installations, catering not only for art lovers to enjoy the variety of sculptures but for people of all ages who can relax and walk around the park.
“Our goal was to create an art park and an attraction that Pula and the surrounding area did not have. The project started 2 years ago, and the entire art concept of the park consists of the architectural project of the park, sculpture and lighting project. 8 artists were involved in the making of the sculptures. The park includes 7 sculptures, 7 concepts and 7 different types of sculpture making. The park is truly unique, and when nature and greenery around the sculptures blend in, it will be a new, beautiful reason to visit Pula,” said Pula Tourist Board director Sanja Cinkopan Korotaj.
The author of the park’s concept, Gorka Ostojić Cvajner, commented. “Thanks first to the city of Pula, who made it possible for the area where this unique park was created. This is a thematic, interdisciplinary and somewhat multi-medial park, heterogeneous by artistic idioms. The basic theme of the park and the link to tourism was travelling, and the default symbol is a cloud motif. The other value of this park is that all local artists, except for one guest, sculptor Majkus, were involved. The park is actually a heritage that will remain for future generations and our Pula.”
Well known designer Dean Skira was responsible for the park’s visuals at night.
