“Zadar Night” was celebrated on Saturday, December 2, in New York. It was organized by the Society of Friends of Zadar as part of the Advent program.
The event had a humanitarian character, and all proceeds from the tickets that were sold out a few days before the event will go to the DV Latica in Zadar, a school for children with disabilities.
In his introductory speech, Fr. Nikola Pasalic expressed his satisfaction that such a large number of the parishioners gathered and supported the humanitarian action.
After him, Vanessa Bulic addressed the guests on behalf of the Board of Directors of the Society of Friends of Zadar, who thanked all sponsors and guests for their donations.
“Zadar night” was held in the hall of St. Cyril and Methodius in the Croatian Center in New York, where many Croats and people from Zadar in the diaspora come to mass every Sunday. At the party, a raffle was held with signed HNS jerseys, as well as Croatian wines and olive oil from the Zadar region.
Almost five hundred guests, mostly from Zadar and numerous other parts of Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, enjoyed the music of the group ‘Nova’ led by Branko Lerga and the klapa ‘Astoria’ until late at night.
Guests also enjoyed delicacies from four Advent houses – Kalelarga, Varos, 4 Kantuna and 5 Bunara.
“It was an unforgettable night, and we are already preparing a new one for next year. Let everyone know that we always carry love for our homeland, and especially for our beloved city of Zadar, in our hearts,” said the Board of Directors of the Society of Friends of Zadar, whose members are Branko and Nancy Lerga, Elvis and Vanessa Bulic, Vjeko and Ivana Pestic, Susan Grgas and Janko Coza.
