PHOTOS: Zavratnica reopens after major restoration

Velebit Nature Park in Croatia has announced the successful completion of the project “Revitalisation of Zavratnica Cove – a Protected Landscape and NATURA 2000 Site within Velebit Nature Park.”
Through this initiative, the infrastructure of one of the most stunning coves on the Croatian coast has been enhanced, accessibility improved, and the natural heritage of this protected landscape further preserved.
The total project value amounts to €320,000 (excluding VAT), with the Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund contributing €256,000, while Velebit Nature Park provided the remaining €64,000.

Materials being transported
The works took place from 17 June to 13 December 2024 and were successfully completed within the planned timeframe, allowing visitors to fully enjoy the renovated cove from this tourist season onwards.

The completed works include: upgrading and revitalising walking trails, installing information panels, preparing project documentation, refurbishing the viewpoint, and improving other infrastructure elements.

Zavratnica Cove is now fully prepared for the upcoming tourist season, offering visitors a more enjoyable and safer experience. Thanks to this revitalisation, visitors will be able to fully appreciate the natural beauty of this unique location.
