Pope Francis to meet Modrić and Croatia team at Vatican

The Croatian national football team is set to have a private audience with Pope Francis, marking a historic first for the team.
This meeting will take place on June 5 at 8 a.m. at the Vatican, the Croatian Football Federation (HNS) confirmed.
This private audience was initially scheduled for last year but had to be canceled due to Pope Francis undergoing a sudden operation.
The Croatian team gathered in Zagreb today to start preparations for Euro 2024, which will be held in Germany next month.
In the lead-up to the tournament, they will play two warm-up matches.
The first match will be against North Macedonia on June 3 in Rijeka, followed by a match against Portugal on June 8 at the National Stadium in Lisbon.
At Euro 2024, Croatia is set to compete in the Group stages against Spain, Albania, and Italy. Their schedule is as follows:
June 15: Spain vs Croatia (Berlin, 18:00)
June 19: Croatia vs Albania (Hamburg, 15:00)
June 24: Croatia vs Italy (Leipzig, 21:00)
