Popular Croatian World Cup fan launches CROkini swimwear collection

ZAGREB, 4 June 2019 – Photographs of Croatian supporter Ivana Knöll in the stands dressed in a red and white checkered dress and headband during last summer’s FIFA World Cup were published all over the world, earning the attractive Zagreb resident the title of ‘Sexiest Croatian Fan’ at the tournament.

Since the World Cup in Russia, Knoll has managed to amass over 100k fans on Instagram and this week she launched her own swimwear brand Knölldoll.

Ivana’s Croatian-style CROkini went on sale for the first time yesterday. For now there are three models available, two swimsuit models and one two-piece.

“For a long time, the idea of female fancy wear was in my head, just because of the fact that whenever I went to matches, I could not find any cool women’s fans wear. 5 years ago when the World Cup was in Brazil, it was the culmination of a failure to find something chic and then I told myself that I would launch it. But I didn’t realised it at that time. Since I’m a freak about swimwear, I’ve came up with the idea, that no one has yet, to do swimwear with the Croatian national symbol, red and white checkerboard that are recognised by people all over the world after many Croatian successes, and especially after the World Cup in summer 2018,” Ivana explains, before elaborating.

“I was attracted to the American flag that is so popular as a pattern on clothes and swimsuits that I told myself one day ”so why would our checkerboard not be as popular, it’s colourful, attractive, and our Croatian symbol.”

All of the swimsuits are made exclusively from Italian lycra that she says is unmatched in quality, but the rest of the process, from production to packaging is done in Croatia.

“I wanted all the rest of the process to be done in Croatia, so I found companies for sewing, printing, packaging and everything else necessary for the product to be ready for sale. I believe that we must support each other, it is the only way for Croatia to be small, but a successful country. And we already showed it is possible when our amazing players are winning and even losing,” she said.

Ivana, who says she is expecting a lot of interest in the swimsuits from the Croatian diaspora, says she is already working on more ideas and preparing some surprises for the next summer season.
