Exciting young Croatian midfielder Filip Krovinović (21) has signed for Portuguese giants Benfica.
Krovinović, who is a product of the NK Zagreb Academy, has moved to Benfica from fellow Portuguese club Rio Ave on a 5-year deal worth a reported 3 million euros.
The midfielder has represented Croatia at U-19 and U-21 level and was presented by the Portuguese champions this week. Krovinović signed a four-year contract with Rio Ave in 2015 and ended up making 35 appearances, scoring 5 times.
Benfica is the current Portuguese champions, having won four consecutive league titles.
In 2000, Benfica was ranked 12th in the FIFA Club of the Century award and are currently ranked 9th in the UEFA club coefficient rankings.
Benfica’s all-time top goalscorer is Eusébio, who won one Ballon d’Or and two European Golden Boots while at the club.
