The pride of the Italian Navy – the aircraft carrier ‘Cavour’ – is heading to Croatia for a visit next week…
The newest flagship of the Italian Navy, and the largest unit in the Marina Militare, will dock in front of Dubrovnik next week. Cavour, at 244 metres long, 39 metres wide and with a displacement of over 27,000 tonnes, is convincingly the strongest NATO surface warship in the Eastern Mediterranean region. Cavour, which is the largest warship built-in Italy after World War II, was launched in 2004 and named after the Italian statesman and politician Camillo Benso, conte di Cavour.
The visit is part of a bilateral defence cooperation between the Croatian and Italian defence forces, reports Slobodna Dalmacija.
