Croatia has been beaten by Denmark on Saturday to finish 6th at the World Handball Championships in Qatar, the nations worst finish at a World Champs in over a decade…
Croatia lost 28-24 to Denmark in the 5th & 6th playoff match after they were bundled out of the tournament on Wednesday by Poland. The 6th place finish means it is Croatia’s worst performance since it finished 9th in 2001 at the World Championships in France. The pressure now is on coach Slavko Goluža, with many calling for the former player to resign.
“Our first goal for the tournament was to make sure we qualified for the Olympic Games in Rio (which is done), but the coach must face the consequences of this performance. It is easiest now to criticise. We will need to do a full analysis of the tournament,” the Croatian Handball Association said. (photo / World Handball Championships Qatar)
