Quiz Show Produces Croatia’s Newest Millionaire

28-year-old school teacher Leonard Mlinaric from Beli Manastir in eastern Croatia, became the first ever Croatian quiz show contestant to win the main prize without the help of a “joker”, when he won 1 million kuna (133,000 euros) in Croatian Tevelvision’s quiz show “Sve u 7” (All in 7) last night.

Croatia’s newest millionaire answered seven straight questions without using one of his three “jokers”. The history and latin teacher had a tear in his eye when quiz host Tarik Filipovic announced that he got the final question correct.

The million kuna question that Mlinaric got correct was: “What is the capital of the largest state from whose mainland you can dip your finger in one of the oceans?”. Mlinaric correctly answered Astana in Kazakhstan, an answer that brough the humble school teacher 1 million kuna.
