Record number of tourists visit Dubrovnik in 2019

DUBROVNIK, 27 August 2019 – Croatia’s most recognisable city internationally, Dubrovnik, is experiencing a record tourism year in 2019.
According to the eVisitor tourist check-in and check-out system, Dubrovnik has welcomed more than 1 million tourists. From 1 January – 24 August, a total of 1,004,840 tourists visited Dubrovnik.
This was 14% more tourists than in the same period in 2018 and also Dubrovnik chalked up 1 million tourists 21 days earlier than last year, The Dubrovnik Times reported.
Overnight stays, which are key measure in the industry, were also up with 3,080,807 recorded so far in 2019. This was 6% more than in the same period last year. In 2018, Dubrovnik reached the 3 million overnight stay milestone on 21 August.
The largest number of tourists so far in 2019 have arrived from the UK, followed by USA, France, Germany, Spain, Croatia, Italy, Australia, Ireland and Finland.
Earlier this summer, the first direct service connecting the United States and Dubrovnik was launched. American Airlines operate three weekly flights between Philadelphia and Dubrovnik which will be boosted to daily flights in 2020.
2019 is set to be a record year for the Dalmatian city. The current record was 2018 when 1,271,657 tourists visited the city and 4,138,023 overnight stays were achieved.
