After inventing the world’s first electric super car – the Concept One, and developing what he markets as the world’s most advanced electric bicycle, Croatian inventor Mate Rimac is about to turn his attentions to developing what would be the world’s first electric yacht…
Rimac has been approached by investors Cadia Yachts to develop what would be a world’s first. The project is not expected to see the light of day until 2015, reports daily Jutarnji list.
“Cadia Yachts contacted us based on our previous work. Of course we had not thought about boats at all, but they are interested in our electric technology used in the sports car and have challenged us to apply it to the nautical world,” said Rimac, before adding.
“Our strengths are our patents that we have for electric motors and batteries, and which we have already applied to cars, bicycles, motorcycles, various test stations, and now even on boats.”
The boat will be built by the Elan boat building company Obrovac, who built the 2014 European Powerboat of the Year up to 35 feet.
