Robert De Niro Portrait Earns Croat Prestigious International Award

Croatian artist Filip Peraić (24) has won a Merit Award, the world’s most prestigious editorial design competition” from the World Society of Publication Designers for his cover he created for Emirates’ inflight magazine ‘Open Skies’.

Peraić created a digital polygonal portrait of Robert De Niro (as Travis Bickle in the cult film “Taxi”) which graced the cover of 85,000 copies of Emirates’ inflight magazine and led the Zadar-born artist to receive the prestigious award. Peraić, who was commissioned for the Emirates job as well-known British film critic Phillip French talks about De Niro in the issue, has also been commissioned to do work by clients such as Mercedes-Benz, ESPN and WIRED magazine all over the world. Peraić graduated from Zagreb’s Faculty of Architecture with a masters in design and plans to open his own creative studio in Croatia.
