For the first time today the public in Croatia will get to see RONNA, a new application of robotics in neurosurgery, in a real operating room environment. RONNA is based on a dual-arm configuration with coordinated navigation and a new localisation method.
Although remote-controlled robots have already performed surgical operations in the world, RONNA is a new application and device that enable machines to independently perform certain ancillary operations, whereby the surgeon ultimately is the one who performs the last step. The 400,000 euros project, made possible by BICRO, Clinical Hospital Dubrava and the University of Mechanical Engineering in Zagreb, will be presented on Wednesday and watched by Croatia’s Minister of Education Zeljko Jovanovic and the Minister of Health Rajko Ostojic.
