Organisers, pilots, hoteliers, and the nations Tourism Minister all had smiles on their faces on Sunday after a successful Red Bull Air Race World Championship event was held in Croatia for the very first time...
Hotels, restaurants and cafes were full as more than 80,000 people surged on the picturesque Istrian town of Rovinj over the weekend to watch the high adrenalin air spectacle, a sight that pleased a present Tourism Minister, Darko Lorencin.
“This event is of exceptional importance not only for Istria but also for the whole of Croatia. This is one of the best examples how to create motives for attracting tourists to come in Croatia before and after the peak season,” said Lorencin, adding that more premium international events to be hosted in Croatia would be announced soon.
Austrian pilot Hannes Arch was the winner of the event which ended on Sunday, and he is not the only pilot hoping that the event organisers return to Croatia again.
“The location and public were excellent and I hope that the Red Bull Air Race comes back to Croatia and Rovinj again,” said pilot Peter Podlunšek.
