Rovinj Wins ‘Best Destination’ at Croatian Tourism Awards

The Croatian Tourism Board has handed out its annual awards this weekend in Opatija, with the northern coastal town of Rovinj the big winner…
The 2014 Best Major Destination on Croatia’s Adriatic Coast award went to Rovinj, knocking last year’s winner Dubrovnik off its perch. The picturesque city of Vȁraždīn took out the award for the Best Inland Destination, whilst US Open champion Marin Čilić was awarded for International Promotion of Croatia. Zaton, located near Zadar on the Dalmatian coast, won awards for Best Beach, as well as Best Camp Site.
Rovnij’s Monte Mulin Hotel won Best Hotel in the country, Punat Marina took out Best Big Marina, and the Olive Island Marina in Sutomiscica won Best Small Marina. Villa Magdalena in Krapinske Toplice won Best Small Inland Hotel, Dubrovnik’s Pucić Palace Hotel was named the Best Small Hotel on the coast, and the Excelsior Hotel in Dubrovnik has been recognised for its long-standing quality.
The Best Rural Beach award went to Srebrena on the island of Vis, whilst Sunčana Uvala- Veli žal in Mali Lošinj won Best Urban Beach. The Zaton Tourist Resort beach won Best Resort Beach.
