Rugby: Kiwi-Croatians To Bolster Side For European Nations Cup

The Croatian national rugby team will be strengthened with the arrival of one Australian and four New Zealand based players for two important European Nations Cup matches against Malta and Switzerland.

Croatia will first take on Malta in the rugby-mad Dalmatian town of Makarska on 27 October, before taking on Switzerland away in Nyon on 3 November. New Zealand-born selector Milan Yelavich will be without star centre Ivan Suta, the blockbusting Zagreb back, who spent a season with the Waitemata club in New Zealand, is out injured.

Yealvich will however, have the services of New Zealand based players Richard Pervan, Mario Ozich, and Shane Vinac, and Australian based Jai Ayoub. The matches also signal the start of the qualifying campaign for the 2015 Rugby World Cup in England. Along with Malta and Switzerland, Croatia’s group also features Holland and Latvia.
