The City of Šibenik has signed an agreement with the Fund for Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency on co-financing the biking-hiking trail “Naš mir” (Our Peace) project.
The trail is located in the eastern part of the city of Šibenik, in the area from the local road Šibenik-Zablaće, and to the northwest.
The constructiion of the trail includes doing up of the existing macadam road, waste rehabilitation, rest areas, installation of info boards, video surveillance systems and ramps.
This project will cover the first phase of landscaping, and the final goal is to connect the trail with the area of Veliki and Mali Solin, which will create a unique recreational and tourist option available to all hikers and recreationists.
“By increasing the offer of bicycle paths, it contributes to sustainable mobility by reducing emissions and minimising the consumption of non-renewable energy sources. It will also contribute to the reduction of uncontrolled waste disposal, but also to raising awareness of the importance of environmental protection. The expected outcomes of the implementation of this project relate to increasing the quality of life and creating daily habits of using bicycles, which could significantly reduce the use of motor vehicles,” the City of Šibenik said.
The value of the project is HRK 1,298,931.25, and the Fund will support the project with HRK 500,000.00.
The “Naš mir” trail is a continuation of constructing numerous bicycle paths in the city of Šibenik, such as paths in Zlarin, Jadrtovac, Donje Polje, Lozovac, Brodarica and Šubićevac, and the construction of a path in the area of Grebaštica and the continuation of the promenade beach in Raslina.
