Top wines from boutique wineries, country wine evening, wine bike race, poetry and wine, picnic on the mountain – September in Slavonia and Podravina in the name of wine.
A new wine festival – Slavonia and Podravina wine not?! – will take place in the eastern Croatian county of Virovitica-Podravina from 4-25 September.
“We start with the ‘Wine & Cake’ country evening at the Janković Castle in Suhopolje, where visitors will be able to enjoy the perfect combination of the cake of the award-winning confectioner Sandra Jadek and excellent dessert wines. This is followed by a wine bicycle race through Virovitica vistas with wine tasting at local Virovitica wineries, then poetry and wine in the birth house of Petar Preradović in Grabrovnica, a wine picnic on the mountain, in the Jankovac forest park and a wine marathon ‘Wine & Run’ in Orahovica. With this event we want to present ourselves as a boutique wine destination and discover what we offer to true wine connoisseurs and lovers,” said Martina Jakelić, director of the Virovitica-Podravina County Tourist Board, which in cooperation with local tourist boards of Virovitica, Orahovica, Pitomača and Čačinac are organising the festival.
From the Noble and Green Route with restored castles and manors and unique nature to the traditionally famous gastronomy and great hosts – Podravina and Slavonia wine not!? it is the perfect invitation to discover this unexpectedly beautiful area of Croatia.
“We are known for the restoration of cultural and historical heritage, and our goal is to position ourselves on the eno-gastro map of Croatia. This is the first wine event of the exclusive type in our county, the programme is extremely rich and interesting and we believe that the response will be more than excellent. We welcome the cooperation of our tourist boards with winemakers who have done a great job together,” said Igor Andrović, prefect of Virovitica-Podravina County.
Top oenologist and winemaker Ivana Nemet is the ambassador and leader of all five tastings. The number of visitors is limited. Visitors can choose between attending individual events or buy a ticket for all five events HERE
“The ticket price per event is 70 kuna, truly symbolic considering what is offered to each visitor, and if you decide for the entire package you will receive a ten percent discount. Don’t think long, because we have already started with the first reservations,” said Davor Deskar from the travel agency Draft, partner of Slavonia and Podravina wine not!? festival.
