Slavonian traditions & lifestyle celebrated for 57th year as Vinkovci Autumn Festival kicks off

The 57th edition of the traditional Vinkovci Autumn Festival (Vinkovačke Jeseni), when all things Slavonian is celebrated with events, has started in the eastern Croatian town of Vinkovci.
The annual festival marks the start of autumn, a season that Slavonians reap a lot of rewards for their hard work during the year.
Vinkovci Autumn festival is a celebration of the Slavonian lifestyle, habits and culture and aims to give festival goers an insight into all things Slavonian – including food, dance, music, costume and dialects.
The 57th Vinkovci Autumn Festival, which is one of the biggest manifestation of traditional culture in this part of Europe, started on Friday with a folklore evening and will run on through until 18 September.
On Sunday, 2,500 of the youngest keepers of traditional culture from 50 folk groups will participate in the Children’s Parade, which is one of the oldest traditions.
Entertainment continues throughout the day in the Garden of Ideas, and the highlight will be a concert by Japanese pianist Yoko Nishi, whose musical magic will take over the museum’s Lapidarium in the evening.
The children’s folklore festival will end with a concert at noon for all the kids, when Minea will take the Vinkovački Jeseni stage.
