The first restaurant from the Sophia Loren Original Italian Food chain is set to open in Croatian in March 2025, daily Novi List recently reported.
Luciano Cimmino launched the “Sophia Loren – Original Italian Food” concept in Florence in early 2021. This venture stems from a partnership with the iconic Italian actress Sophia Loren, extending to a development strategy both domestically and internationally, alongside a licensing deal for a restaurant chain.
Today, the management of the business is handled by Luciano’s 51-year-old son Gianluigi, who sees Croatia as the new big star of the Mediterranean.
”The first restaurant (in Croatia) will open in the heart of Split, possibly in one of the more luxurious hotels,” Gianluigi Cimmino told Novi List.
Gianluigi Cimmino, who is the honorary consul of Croatia in Italy, says they see Croatia as a prosperous country, but crucial were also the discussions with key figures in the tourism industry who confirmed their thoughts, their work, and plans.
He is owner not only of a chain of restaurants named after the famous Italian actress, but also the global ambassador of Italian film art and highly renowned fashion brands Carpisa and Yammamai, whose stores are scattered worldwide.
The Sophia Loren Original Italian Food chain has a mission to showcase the most recognisable and appealing elements of Italian gastronomy worldwide.
The fact that their restaurants have opened in Florida or Hong Kong over the past few years, with plans to expand to Dubai soon, confirms how high Croatia is in their plans.
