Many have packed up and gone home, but tourists are still arriving in large numbers at Split international airport…
Over 230,000 passengers have passed through Split airport on Croatia’s Dalmatian coast in September, setting a new record for the post-season month.
“We are expecting growth of 10% in September, compared to the same month last year, which was the record for September till now,” said Split airport’s Mate Melvan.
From 1 January until the end of September around 1,580,000 passengers would have passed through Split airport, but it is not just the airport where records look set to be broken.
“Already 10 days ago the record for September was broken. The numbers from September last year were passed 10 days ago, I believe that there will be double-digit growth,” said Alijana Vukšić from the Split Tourist Board.
Temperatures over the past two weeks have been a comfortable 25-26 degrees celsius, attracting those who prefer the slightly cooler weather.
