Summer may not have officially kicked off, but the Dalmatian city of Split is currently enjoying a busy start to the year…
In April 24,808 tourists visited Split, 6% more than arrived in the same month last year. Out of the total number of tourist arrivals, 4,455 were local tourists. Overnight stays, a key tourism measure, were up 11% compared to the same period in 2013.
May has also started brightly, and according to early reports, there could be double-digit growth in the number of tourist arrivals from last year.
So where were most of the tourists to Split in April arriving from? It were the Americans who comfortably were on top of that list with 2,710 visitors creating 5,544 overnight stays. Tourists from South Korea were next with 2,341 arrivals, twice as many as last year, followed by French (1,440), Germans (1,395) and Japanese (959).
