Star Wars saga coming to Dubrovnik
Croatian tourism is set to get another big boost with rumours that Star Wars: Episode VIII will film in Dubrovnik later this year look like they are true…
According to a number of portals, including makingstarwars, Dubrovnik, which was used as a location for a number of seasons for HBO’s Game of Thrones, is set to be one of the locations for filming Star Wars: Episode VIII. Tax breaks, incentives and a stunning location help Dubrovnik land major productions.
Croatia’s dnevnik.hr contacted the Croatian Audiovisual Centre (HAVC) and the Dubrovnik City Council, but both would not deny or confirm the rumours. Dnevnik understands that a deal has been done and filming will start as soon as March, but that both are contractually bound not to discuss the matter.
If filming eventuates, which sources say it will, it will be a massive coup for for local tourism.
