Croatian football coach Igor Stimac says that he will decide on his starting line-up for the World Cup qualifier against Scotland at Zagreb’s Maksimir stadium tomorrow night (Friday, 8:15pm) on the morning of the match.
Apart from the suspended Luka Modric and Vedran Corluka, Stimac will have a full squad to select his starting eleven from on Friday.
“The most important thing is that finally we are all complete and we have no injuries. True, at training we have tried some combinations with 2 and 3 strikers, but that is the least of our problems as we have 6-7 excellent strikers at our disposal,” said Stimac’s assistant Alen Boksic, who admits that being spoilt for choice is a good problem to have.
Stimac will likely start 16-year-old Alen Halilovic on the bench on Friday night and not burden the teenager with filling the boots of Modric. Inter Milan’s Mateo Kovacic is expected to start in the midfield. Croatia top group A with Belgium with 16 points, with Scotland in last place with just 2 points, but Stimac says Croatia will not relax and take them lately.
