Stipe Miocic will fight again in July for the first time since his defeat to Francis Ngannou at UFC 260 back in March of 2021.
Miocic will meet Jon Jones in July fro the UFC heavyweight title after Jones defeated Ciryl Gane last night with a two-minute submission in the first round at UFC 285.
Speaking to ESPN after the fight, Miocic kept his thoughts of Jones, who was impressive in his return to the ring after more than 3 years, close to his chest.
“He won. That is it. I will see him July,” Stipe said after last night’s fight where he had a front row seat.
When asked how he was going to train for the fight, the American-Croatian said not too much would be changing.
“Nothing is going to change, I am going to train my arse off and I am gonna beat their arse. I am 100 percent ready, no questions,” he said.
Stipe said he wanted to fight Jones in March but that didn’t work out and now he is ready to claim him belt again.
“I weight more than him, I weight 253 . You will see that the difference is in July, I will tell you right now.”
Talking to Joe Rogan in the octagon after last night’s win, Jones called out Miocic.
“You wanna see me beat up Stipe? Stipe Miocic I hope you are training my guy. You are the greatest heavyweight of all time and I want you, real bad,” Jones said.

Miocic is still regarded as the best heavyweight in MMA history. He has the most consecutive title defenses in UFC heavyweight history after defending his title four times against Alistair Overeem, Junior dos Santos, Francis Ngannou and Daniel Cormier.
