Swatch Beach Volleyball Major Series Coming Back to Croatia

The Swatch Beach Volleyball Major Series is back in Croatia for the third year in a row.
From 27 June – 2 July 2017, Poreč in Istria will play host to the FIVB World Tour Swatch Beach Volleyball Major Series.
The tournament has become a popular feature of the summer in Poreč over the past two years, with 1,500 fans turned away from the men’s final match last year after it was sold out.
The Poreč Major, which is the second stop of the Beach Major series after Fort Lauderdale, has a total prize money of $600,000.
Center Court matches are played in Peškera Bay which has a stunning view towards the old town of Poreč – the side courts are located near the Valamar Zagreb Hotel and tourist resort Zelena laguna.
As well as enjoying Olympic-level beach volleyball competition, visitors can enjoy in a host of other activities throughout the tournament, including some pumping after parties.
“Everyone keeps asking me why I choose Poreč as part of our world tour and I tell them to just come and see for yourself why it’s one of the best places in the world. Poreč is a truly unique place to host a beach volleyball tournament,” says Beach Majors CEO Mr. Hannes Jagerhofer.
Olympic gold medalists and German superstars Laura Ludwig and Kira Walkenhorst will be playing in Poreč in the women’s tournament, as will defending champions Brazilians Alison Cerutti and Bruno Schmidt.
