Talented teenage tennis player Dino Prižmić (18) has been called up to play for Croatia in the Davis Cup for the first time.
Prižmić, was named in the Croatia squad on Monday by coach Vedran Martić for the upcoming Davis Cup Finals tournament.
Dino is joined in the team by Borna Ćorić, Borna Gojo, Ivan Dodig and Mate Pavić.
Dino earned his spot in the team after a series of impressive results, including reaching the quarterfinals of the ATP tournament in Umag in July, clinching the title at the ATP Challenger in Banja Luka last week, and winning the junior French Open at Roland Garros in Paris at the beginning of June.
Dino hails from the Croatian city of Split, which has been a breeding ground for tennis greatness, including the likes of Goran Ivanišević, Mario Ančić, and his current teammate Pavić.
In March of this year, Dino surpassed Jakub Menšík from the Czech Republic to become the highest-ranked 18-year-old player in the world.
The Davis Cup Finals tournament is scheduled to take place in Split from September 12th to 17th.
Croatia’s first match in the group will be against the United States on September 13th, the second against Finland on September 15th, and the third against the Netherlands on September 17th.
