Makarska, October 6, 2023 – Is tennis changing its rules? Has someone dared to do it for the first time in history? Behind this sports revolution and the new brand TIME TENNIS is Felix Lukas, the director of the most popular women’s tournament, WTA Makarska Open hosted by Valamar.
So, it’s no wonder that Makarska was chosen for the premiere of the new rules.
A new, more dynamic game, appealing to a younger audience, with time limits, interesting for both male and female players on the same team, will be introduced for the first time at the Sunset Serve event on Friday, October 13th, starting at 6 PM at the Makarska Tennis Center.
Exhibition matches under the new rules will feature Croatian representative Tena Lukas, the best Bosnian-Herzegovinian tennis player Dee Herdželaš, Italian Giovanni Orlandini, Wimbledon sensation Englishman Marcus Willis, former top 10 world player and Grand Slam finalist Cypriot Marcos Baghdatis.
There will also be concerts by Hari Rončević and the group CAMBI., surprise guests, and gifts for the audience.
“This is the best way to thank the people of Makarska for their excellent hospitality and support in organizing the WTA tournament. The team behind the new concept of Time Tennis wishes for this exciting story to start in Croatia, a small sports country with great athletes and ideas.
TIME TENNIS is forming a new sports league for the first time in the history of sports where men and women will be completely equal and compete as part of the same team. The whole system is completely different from the tennis we have known so far. In tennis, if you are not in the top 100, you cannot make a living from the game, but our tennis concept offers fixed incomes to the players, so athletes will no longer rely solely on tournament results or family financial status.
We are reducing anxiety and depression, which are on the rise among male and female tennis players, promoting gender equality in the world of sports, and offering a fairer system,” emphasises Felix Lukas, who has been working intensively on the new rules with his collaborators and experts for the past few years.
Representatives from the largest Hollywood production company, Mandalay Sports Media, responsible for the legendary film “The Last Dance” about the Chicago Bulls, will also attend the premiere of TIME TENNIS in Makarska.
There are plans to shoot a new documentary about the creation of TIME TENNIS, and they will capture the first scenes in the town under Biokovo.
Sunset Serve is an opportunity to enjoy top-quality sports and excellent musicians in the Dalmatian twilight. Admission is free, and the event also has a charitable aspect, with funds being raised to support the Safe House of Caritas of the Split-Dalmatia Archdiocese.
