Organized by the Permanent Mission of Croatia to the UN and the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Croatia, the exhibition “Beauty of Croatia” by Marko Vrdoljak opened at the UN Headquarters in New York on June 5.
The Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Republic of Croatia to the UN, H.E. Mr. Ivan Šimonovic, opened the exhibition with his speech commemorating Croatia’s Statehood Day. The exhibition was followed by a reception with Croatian food and wines catered by the well-known restaurant Dubrovnik.
The photo exhibition “The Beauty of Croatia”, is inspired by famous landmarks and lesser known, but equally charming places from various Croatian regions. It presents a careful selection of 26 photographs by Croatian contemporary photographer Marko Vrdoljak, featuring beauty of nature and ancient edifices that bear witness to the country’s rich natural, cultural and historical heritage.
Colorfully striking, thematic and content-rich, printed in large formats along with short factual descriptions, this photographic story will once again remind all the visitors why the Croatia is named the pearl of the Mediterranean, a real jewel in the heart of Europe and one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world.
Vrdoljak photographic work has been acknowledged by the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Croatia, which has signed a contract with the author for the realization of four exhibitions: “Amazing Croatia 1”, “Amazing Croatia 2”, “Blue-green Croatia” and “Beauties of Croatia”, including a total of 166 photographs of all parts of Croatia, with the aim of showing Croatia’s beauty to the world.
In addition to other awards and acknowledgements, Vrdoljak also won the most prestigious professional award in Croatia, “Tošo Dabac”, for his vast contribution to the affirmation of artistic photography and the overall art of photography in Croatia.
He has presented his work in hundreds of exhibitions held in Croatia, USA, Canada, Russia, Italy, Lithuania, Poland, Slovakia, Iceland, Denmark, Greece, Sweden, Finland, Ireland, Ukraine, Czech Republic, Belgium, Vatican, Latvia, Bulgaria, Montenegro, Algeria and Korea.
