The beginning of September is traditionally reserved for Štrudlafest in Jaškovo, near Ozalj.
Just half an hour from Zagreb and an hour from Rijeka, this festival attracts thousands of visitors every year.
This year, Štrudlafest once again offers delightful flavours, fantastic concerts, and numerous workshops for both children and adults.
Štrudlafest kicks off on Friday, 6th September, with a concert by the band Psihomodo Pop, who have aptly named this performance “Ja volim samo (sebe) štrudle”.
Of course, the first day also features activities such as Strudel by Kayak, Strudel Step by Step, and a show by the golden ambassador of Štrudlafest – Aunt Marica.
Saturday is reserved for competitions, with the selection of the best strudel in Croatia.
This year, there’s also the “Strudel from Chicago” show, presented by Croatians from America.
A new attraction this year is a panoramic helicopter ride over Štrudlafest, which is sure to add extra charm to the sweetest festival.
In addition to flying, you can explore the festival by bike, and there are plenty of creative and culinary workshops where you can learn a great deal.
Don’t miss the traditional culinary corner, and be sure to visit the ranch with Scottish cattle, which is certain to impress you.
Amongst all the delicious treats to try, don’t forget to take your little ones to the zip line set up by the Croatian Mountain Rescue Service (HGSS) again this year.
There are also workshops by Aquatika and the Nikola Tesla Experience Centre. This year, Štrudlafest also features a plasticine farm where you can create wonders with your own hands.
Sunday is also packed with culinary workshops, and we’ll be joined by a team from Austria showcasing the strudel from Seeboden. The cultural association KUD Vivodina will introduce us to traditional household customs from long ago, and if you want to add a splash of colour to the event, there’s face painting too.
The festival will conclude with an acoustic concert by the popular Toma. None of this would be possible without the support of the Croatian National Tourist Board, the City of Ozalj, the Kupa River Area Tourist Board, and the Karlovac County Tourist Board, who have once again backed this fantastic project.
So, Jaškovo, from 6th to 8th September – the sweetest festival you can’t afford to miss.We look forward to seeing you at Štrudlafest!
