The Croatian Cultural Association “Cardinal Alojzije Stepinac” was established in 2004 with the vision to honour its culture by preserving its heritage within its wider community.
The Association was created to honour our great-grandmothers, grandmothers and mothers who on the other side of the world in foreign lands continue to teach, nurture and preserve the Croatian customs, meals and traditions.
The Croatian Cultural Association wants to continue this important job of our great-grandmothers, grandmothers and mothers by holding cooking presentations and this way engage younger generations and all of us to replicate these amazing and tasty meals for centuries to come.
On Thursday 7th December 2023 our traditional Christmas cooking presentation was held at the Croatian Community Centre in Geelong.
Special thanks to our presenter – Drago Gudasić who enticed the audience with his cooking of pork belly – carsko meso.
Drago is a well known member of the Croatian community. He has been in charge of the kitchen in the Croatian Community Centre in Geelong for more than 30 years. Drago’s knowledge and love for cooking and recreating traditional Croatian dishes is inspiring.
On behalf of the Association, we express our gratitude to Drago for all the preparation he put in beforehand and on the evening in making this Christmas Class a great success.
Traditionally the Croatian Cultural Association also has activities for the children and we would like to thank Mrs. Michelle Butković and Miss. Madeline Barić who took time out to assist the children with the Christmas activities.
The cooking presentation was attended by many members of the Croatian community. Everyone was able to taste the dishes and a dessert and have received a copy of the recipes.
As always, the Association is blessed to have in-house photographer – Julie Marinović, who captures these amazing moments on the night.
We would also like to thank North Geelong Warriors Women’s Team for helping us on the night.
Finally, thank you to the Croatian Community Centre of Geelong who continually support the CCA with all their events unconditionally.
As a result of many of these cooking presentation since 2004 the Association has published the amazing bilingual cookbook “ My Mother’s Kitchen / Kuhinja moje majke’* cookbook, which was launched in 2019.
The Association presented the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Croatia, dr.sc. Gordan Grlić Radman with our outstanding cookbook “My Mother’s Kitchen/Kuhinja Moje Majke” during his visit to Geelong on the 6th December 2023.
The cookbook is available to purchase on our website croatianculturalassociation.
