The most popular baby names in Croatia right now – see which made the list

Baby name trends often reflect cultural influences, family traditions, and personal preferences. Each year, some names remain firm favourites, while others rise or fall in popularity.

As net.hr reported, The Croatian Ministry of Justice and Administration has released the most popular baby names in Croatia for 2024.

Once again, Luka and Mia hold the top spots for boys and girls, proving their enduring appeal among Croatian parents.

Top Baby Names for Boys in 2024

For baby boys, Luka continues to be the most common name, maintaining its long-standing popularity. Jakov remains the second most chosen name, just like in 2023, while Toma has seen a significant rise, moving from fifth place to third.

Other notable shifts include Mateo, which dropped from fourth place in 2023 to eighth place in 2024. Meanwhile, Vito and Šimun entered the top 20, replacing Marko and Leon from the previous year.

Top Baby Names for Girls in 2024

Among girls, Mia remains the most popular choice. Rita has climbed the rankings, moving from third place in 2023 to second place in 2024.

On the other hand, Lucija, which was the second most popular name in 2023, has now dropped to fifth place.

New entries in the top 20 for girls include Vita and Marija, while Lana and Hana are no longer on the list.
