The most-watched Croatian films of 2024 revealed

In 2024, Croatian cinema attracted 141,689 viewers across the nation, showcasing 40 domestic titles, including minority co-productions, the Croatian Audiovisual Center said on Wednesday.
Notably, 27 films premiered in cinemas last year. Beyond domestic screenings, Croatian films also made their mark at major international film festivals worldwide.
Leading the box office was “Dražen,” a biographical film about the legendary Croatian basketball player Dražen Petrović, directed by Danilo Šerbedžija and Ljubo Zdjelarević.
The film drew 81,627 viewers, making it the most-watched Croatian film in 2024.
The film also placed among the top ten most-watched films in Croatia for 2024, alongside international hits like “Inside Out 2,” “Deadpool & Wolverine,” “Minions: Fearless Spies,” “Dune: Part Two,” “Gladiator II,” “Venom 3: The Last Dance,” and “Beetlejuice.”
Behind “Dražen” were the following Croatian films.
“Svemu dođe kraj” by Rajko Grlić (Interfilm): 11,145 viewers
“Slatka Simona” by Igor Mirković (Interfilm): 6,493 viewers
“Proslava” by Bruno Anković (Eclectica): 5,252 viewers
“Nakon ljeta” by Danis Tanović (Propeler Film): 5,123 viewers
“Šalša” by Dražen Žarković (Maxima Film): 5,016 viewers
Additionally, films that began their theatrical run in 2023 continued to perform well into 2024. “Dnevnik Pauline P.” by Neven Hitrec and “Sveta obitelj” by Vlatka Vorkapić secured spots among the top ten most-watched domestic titles in 2024.

Among minority co-productions, the comedy “Živi i zdravi” by Ivan Marinović stood out, attracting 5,372 viewers (produced by Ankica Jurić Tilić, Kinorama).
In total, 40 Croatian films, including minority co-productions, were screened in regular cinema distribution, with 13 of them beginning their run in 2023.
The Croatian Audiovisual Center supported 27 projects through a public call for distribution, allocating a total of €169,300.
Viewership data for domestic films and minority co-productions were collected directly from distributors.
