ZADAR, 15 October 2019 – The Nutcracker ballet, one of the most famous and performed ballet performances in the world, arrives in Zadar and Zagreb this December.
The Nutcracker is a Christmas fairy tale told through the ballet choreography by one of the most famous choreographers, ballet masters and recipient of numerous awards and international recognitions – Valery Petrovich Kovtun.
It is the story about a girl named Marie, who finds an unusual present under the Christmas tree, a wooden nutcracker doll, and goes through marvellous adventures in a dream world with it. Set to Tchaikovsky’s music, it shows a world completely different from ours – it evokes fantasy, magic, myths and legends.
The popularity of this ensemble’s performances is proven by the fact that they give around 300 ballet shows annually, 70 of which were The Nutcracker last year. Their renditions are characterised by classical ballet with a modern twist, which makes them one of a kind in the world. Also their performance of The Nutcracker is also completely different from classical performances.
The ensemble consists of brilliant dancers, principal dancers and soloists of Ukrainian national theatres who cherish the tradition of Russian ballet and ballet school. Audiences could already see most of these artists in the ballets such as Radio & Juliet, Quatro and The Great Gatsby, which were always sold out.
Tickets for The Nutcracker at Arsenal in Zadar on 11 December are available via Eventim online or at their sales outlets.
Tickets for The Nutcracker in Zagreb at the Lisinski Concert Hall on 15 and 16 December are available here.
