Postcard from Split with four bell towers

Bell towers – in local dialect: kampaneli – are symbols of our cities. Some of the cities are recognizable by bell towers, or better to say bell towers are one of their brands.

The town of Rab on the island of Rab has a name “Town of four bell towers”, because there are four old bell towers lined one beside another through the city panorama.

One of the tourist attractions and recognizable spot points in Split is the bell tower of Saint Duje.

Everybody knows for Saint Duje bell tower. Its name is in many songs, from traditional acapella ones to those which support our football team Hajduk.

It could be found on many postcards and it is visible above all roofs in Diocletian Palace and even wider.

But very few people know that Split has its own four bell towers perfect lined like ones in Rab too.

On the photo below you can see four bell towers.

They are, from left hand side; Bell tower of ex saint Benedict monastery, mini bell tower used as a part of city clock, the bell tower of Church of Our Lady of the Bell Tower and the Saint Duje bell tower.

Of course, there are more bell towers in the center of city of Split, and outside of center, but this four bell towers are some kind of attraction which have to be seen and filmed.

So, when you will walk thru old city center, try to find perfect location to have this beautiful point of view.

Try to do it by yourself, it will be more challenged.

Regards from Split.
