One of Croatia’s greatest ever sportsmen is to return to the club where he enjoyed his biggest success after a 15-year break…
Legendary basketballer Toni Kukoč is set to return to the NBA with the Chicago Bulls, the club where he won 3 championship rings in the 1990s. Kukoč, who is currently on vacation in Croatia, will take a consultancy role with the club this season.
“I always wanted to stay involved in basketball, in the NBA, and now I have been given that opportunity. I will work as a consultant to the Bulls management,” Kukoč told 24sata.
Kukoč, who was part of the famous 3-peat winning Bulls team (96,97,98), will sign the contract in Chicago next week and get straight to work.
“The offer had been on the table for a while, and the negotiations were finalised before I left to come to Croatia on holiday. After my career I stayed connected with the Bulls, I went to almost every match, even trainings so I know the club very well and all the people at the club too and I am looking forward to working with them,” said the 6ft 11in former forward.
Croatia will be well represented this season in the NBA. With Bojan Bogdanović, Damjan Rudež, Mario Hezonja, and maybe Duje Dukan on court, Neven Spahija on the coaching staff at Atlanta and Ivica Dukan as the Bulls chief scout.
