Although Italian by heritage, pizza plays a big part in Croatian cuisine. So where to get a good pizza in the capital Zagreb? Pizza ranking is not the easiest task as style and tastes are so varied, but we have compiled a list of the Top 7 in town…
7. Chateau des Jardins pizza house
Address: Tkalčićeva 73
Located at the top of Zagreb’s famous Tkalčićeva street, Chateau des Jardins pizza house do great pizzas. Their flagship pizza, which is thin and crispy with prosciutto, rucola, fresh tomatoes and parmesan shavings in worth trying.
6. Pizza Kod Žaca
Address: Nike Grškovića 4
Here you have the choice between which type of dough (thin or thick) and which kind of cheese (mozzarella or gauda). What makes these pizzas so tasty are that the ingredients are always of great quality and are a fresh. Personally we recommend going for the thin base option.
5. Nu Pizzeria

It is worth making the trek out of the city centre for a pizza here. Situated in Novi Zagreb (Središće), Nu Pizzeria do fabulous light Italian style pizzas topped with the freshest ingredients. Try the prosciutto, fresh tomatoes & rucola, or the Slavonska pizza and you will not be disappointed.
4. Luca’s

Luca’s is home to one of the best pizza maestros in Croatia. Hidden in a no-name corner of Vukovarska street, between a bank and a post-office, Luca’s offer some of the finest pizzas in town. The anchovies, cheese and red onion calzone is probably one of the best in the country. Succulent inside, crunchy on the outside, the calzone comes with a beautiful tomato salsa on the side, and fresh salad topped with cherry tomatoes.
3. Franky’s

Situated in Kaptol centre Franky’s has consistently been a favourite pizza place for locals in Zagreb. Their pizzas are light with a thin and crispy base, and are topped with fresh, quality ingredients. Franky’s are not tight with toppings, making their pizzas succulent and filling. They do a fantastic white pizza.
2. Karijola 1 & 2
Address: Kranjčevićeva 16 & Vlaška 63
One of the most famous pizza places in town, Karijola have a couple of restaurants in the capital. Their pizzas are just how pizzas should be – light, thin dough, tasty salsa, mozzarella cheese and a variety of fresh, quality ingredients. The classic margarita with buffalo mozzarella and extra olive oil is superb.

A pizza lovers delight. O’Hara’s pizza maestro was the winner of the 2014 Croatia Pizza Cup and it is not hard to see why. Hot out of their wood oven, the pizzas literally just melt in your mouth. O’Hara’s keep their toppings simple and always use the freshest ingredients. To top it off O’Hara’s have over 100 types of beer from all over the world on offer (mainly craft beers).
